Sweet Rice

For all the sweet lovers, meethe chawal or sweet rice is a great lunch option to satiate your appetite and sweet craving.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Basmati Rice
  • ½ cup Mawana Premium Crystal Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Ghee (Clarified Butter)
  • 1 ¼ cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons of crushed Pistachio, Almonds, and Cashewnuts
  • 1 tablespoon Raisins
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 3 Cardamom Pods
  • ½ teaspoon Saffron

Instructions

  1. Soak rice in water for 20 minutes.
  2. Heat two tablespoons of ghee in a pan and roast the dry fruits in it. Remove dry fruits and keep aside in a cup.
  3. Now saute cardamom pods and cinnamon in the same ghee.
  4. Add water and saffron to it and cover with a lid. As the water starts boiling add rice to it and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Check if the rice is half cooked. Now add sugar, one tablespoon of ghee and roasted dry fruits to it. Mix it well and let the sugar dissolve.
  6. Cover the pan with the lid and let it simmer for 5 more minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure that the rice doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
  7. Once the rice is fully cooked serve hot. Garnish with dry fruits.
